25 Jan Dream Artfully
“So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.”
– Christopher Reeve
The first time I made a dream board was January of 2017. I was coming off of one of the hardest seasons of my bookselling career, and I needed to re-focus and figure out where I wanted to go. I’d like to think that vision board set the course for everything I did in the year to come. It encouraged me to see the bigger picture and to be brave enough to set ambitious goals.
I made a dream board for 2018, shown above, and it’s already setting the course for the year ahead. I thought I’d tell you a little bit about mine in hopes that it might inspire you to create your own!
1. Get out of survival mode.
If you have been following Artful Agenda, you know my word for the year is CENTERED. I’m tired of being in survival mode and want to create a pace of life that is mentally, physically and spiritually healthy.
2. Create inspired videos and parties.
I sell children’s books for a living—the most beautiful and inspiring children’s books on the market. I have a large team of consultants that I support, and the task of keeping up with it all has shifted my focus away from what is truly important about my business—the books! I got my start making videos about our incredible books, and I want to spend some time returning to that. I’d like to reconnect with our products and let my passion for them show in my book events and spread throughout my team.
The image of the bookshelf above is from my friend Natalie’s blog. Be sure to check her page out! She is the coolest mom of five I know!
3. Master my mornings.
My new year’s resolution is to have more intentional and structured mornings. I actually plan to do a “morning person” challenge very soon! Stay tuned for that if you also want to become a morning person!
4. Stronger customer and host relationships.
I love people. I love my customers. I really love my book party hosts. Unfortunately, I don’t always take the time to show it. This year, I want to be intentional about building stronger relationships with the people who make my book business possible.
5. Healthy and confident in Punta Cana.
I’m not sure if I’ll wear a bikini—that hasn’t happened in about 6 years, but I do want to feel fabulous when we head to the beach this summer. I’d like to be healthy and at my goal weight! I’ve worked really hard to earn a free trip for two to Punta Cana (an incentive with my book business), and I want to feel my absolute best when I go!
6. Open “Hotel Allen”.
It’s always been my dream to have an air bnb, and this is the year it comes true. I’m over the moon excited to make it a creative and inspired space that people from all over the world can visit!
7. Convention awards.
I work really hard at my book business, but I didn’t really have much to show for it at the convention award ceremony last year. This year, I’m planning to take home at least three awards. I’ve mapped out my plan to do it, and I am set on making it happen!
8. 10,000 Artful users.
This is the scariest goal on my board. It’s the goal I want to achieve more than any of the others. I want to grow my Artful Agenda business to 10,00o users in the first year. It’s ambitious… but so am I!
